It was mind boggling watching Ray Allen struggle in the playoffs. Although now that the Celtics are one win away from banner #17 Ray Allen’s shooting woes seem like ancient history, especially after watching Game 4 last night. But remember Ray struggled. Sports radio was calling the Big Three the Big 2 ½.
His jump shot certainly looked like Ray Allen’s jump shot with the exception of one major detail: it wasn’t going in the basket. Was Jesus Shuttlesworth chocking in the playoffs? (Newly discovered) Celtics fans everywhere hoped that was not the case. Ray can slay teams with his deadly accuracy on the perimeter. Watching Ray Allen shoot a basketball is like watching Ken Griffey Jr. hit a baseball. So what was going on? A couple days ago I heard about what was on Ray’s mind other than winning a championship.
Ray’s stepfather was nearly the victim of a murder for hire back in 2003 just before he married Ray’s mother, and the man behind the attempted murder turned out to be Ray’s stepfather’s ex-wife’s husband.
The trial started in November, but the man didn’t wind up getting convicted until the day of Game 6 of the first-round series against the Hawks. Thirty-three years for conspiracy to commit murder was what they gave him. Article
I’d say that qualifies as a bonafide distraction worthy of throwing anyone off their game.

Many people already knew this, but it became official when his wife called him a wimp.
“As tough and big as he seems, he is real wimpy around doctors or any type of medical situation,” Cynthia Rodriguez said, according to excerpts released Tuesday by YES. “I don’t know why I thought the birth of our child would be different. In the middle of the night, I realized that I needed to go to the hospital. I wake him up. The first thing that comes out of his mouth, `Can we call your mother?’ … A few hours later, I said, `I think you can call my mom now.’ Uh, and the color came back to his face when I told him he could call my mom.”
Anytime your wife is in labor and she has to ask how you’re doing because you passed out fainted, you know who is the weak one in the relationship.
“And really, I am not being paid much attention to besides the doctor and a couple of nurses,” she said. “And he is there moaning. In between pushing, I am going, `Honey, are you OK?’ and `Are you breathing? Are you OK?’ “
